About the chair

John C. Doswell II, D.D.S.

John Doswell joined the MCV Foundation board of trustees in 1998 and became its chair in July 2008. He also is a member of the VCU Health System board of directors and the VCU Board of Visitors.

He is a former member of the VCU School of Dentistry advisory board, and he has been active with the MCV Alumni Association of VCU, serving as president of the Dental Division from 1992 to 1994 and president of the MCVAA of VCU from 1996 to 1999. He received the Alumni Star Award in 1993 and the Hodges-Kay Service Award in 2007 for outstanding service to the MCVAA of VCU, the School of Dentistry and VCU.

Doswell is a 1979 graduate of the School of Dentistry, where he served as president of his class from 1975 to 1978, and president of the School of Dentistry student body from 1978 to 1979.

Since 1981, he has been in private practice in Richmond, Va. He is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Dental Association, the Virginia Dental Association, the Richmond Dental Society, the American Academy of Periodontology and the Virginia Society of Periodontists.
