Research is the distinguishing characteristic of a true academic medical center, and the quality and amount of funded research is the primary measure of a research university’s standing among its peers. Thanks in great part to private support, our research endeavors continue to grow and thrive throughout the MCV Campus, fueling the pursuit of new knowledge and discovery across disciplines.
Philanthropic support targeted to research helps expand our programs in myriad of ways. It augments funding for new laboratories and equipment, provides seed money for promising research and helps investigators meet matching fund requirements for grants. But most important is its ability to give our schools and centers the means to hire highly regarded senior-level scientists to lead the charge on solving humanity’s toughest health challenges.
