Some of our most committed contributors didn’t go to school here, work here or have a child educated here. Yet they give their financial support, volunteer their time, share their expertise, raise funds, cheer us on and celebrate our successes. They make all the difference in the world to our world-class academic medical center.
If you have supported our campus in the past, we thank you. If you are ready to make another gift, or if you are thinking about becoming a new MCV Campus friend, here are some ideas for your consideration.
Make an unrestricted gift
An unrestricted gift is simply a gift with no restrictions from the donor on how it is to be used, although it can be directed to a particular school or program and still be considered unrestricted. Unrestricted gifts provide the MCV Foundation and its campus partners with discretionary funds that can be used for a range of purposes, allowing us to respond with flexibility to unexpected opportunities and changing circumstances.
Target a disease
Throughout the MCV Campus, our physicians and scientists are conducting hundreds of innovative studies, all with the potential to advance medicine, reduce suffering, improve lives and find cures. Many of our friends choose to support research into a disease or health issue that has touched them personally. We are here to help direct your gift to an area of research that is especially meaningful to you.
Give a student a financial leg-up
Scholarships relieve the financial pressure on students, allowing them to focus on their studies and reach their educational goals. For an economically disadvantaged student, a scholarship can make the difference in where, and even if, he or she goes to school. There are more than 200 current or endowed scholarship funds and awards at the MCV Foundation; all are open to additional funding.
Promote faculty excellence
Our faculty is our medical center’s greatest asset. Outstanding faculty members attract top-notch students, obtain millions in grants and lead our clinical enterprise to even greater levels of distinction. Recruiting and keeping eminent scholars, scientists and clinicians is a major priority of every university, so competition for top scholars and teachers is fierce. Your gift to one or more of our current and endowed faculty support funds helps ensure that we can continue to compete for the best.
