Charles F. Bryan Jr., Ph.D.

Charles F. Bryan Jr., Ph.D., joined the board of the MCV Foundation in 2011.

Charles is founding partner with Daniel P. Jordan of Bryan & Jordan Consulting, LLC, which specializes in strategic planning, fundraising, board and staff relations and executive searches for nonprofit institutions and higher education. He retired in 2008 after a 30-year career as a public historian, including as president and chief executive officer of the Virginia Historical Society. He served as president of the American Association for State and Local History and was president of the Independent Research Libraries Association. He is a lecturer for the Organization of American Historians' Distinguished Lecture Series and was named the Outstanding Virginian of 2009.

A distinguished military graduate of the Virginia Military Institute, Charles holds a master's degree in history from the University of Georgia and a doctorate from the University of Tennessee with a specialty in the American Civil War.
