Herbert A. Claiborne III, J.D., joined the MCV Foundation board in 2014.
Hobie has served as general counsel and secretary at Carpenter Co., one of the world’s largest suppliers of polyurethane foam and polyester fiber used in furniture, bedding, carpet cushion and other comfort applications, since 1988. Previously, he was an associate in the business department of McGuireWoods.
As a lifelong resident of Richmond, Hobie appreciates the benefits of having a world class medical facility nearby, and serving on the MCV Foundation board allows him to help support that facility.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in history from the University of Virginia and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Richmond School of Law. Hobie also is a member of the boards of St. Catherine’s School and the Virginia Historical Society and serves as an alternate trustee of the Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation.
