The MCV Foundation has been made aware that one or more individuals posing as representatives of the MCV Foundation (sometimes using the name “VCU Health Foundation”) have been arranging virtual “job interviews” with prospective applicants through job posting websites. The applicants are led to believe they are being interviewed for work-from-home positions for the Foundation, and are asked to provide personal information. They may also be asked to make certain purchases related to their new “position.” These are not legitimate solicitations. The MCV Foundation has alerted law enforcement and other relevant parties to this scheme. If you have been contacted by someone using a non-VCU e-mail (e.g., Gmail) purporting to be a representative of the MCV Foundation or the “VCU Health Foundation” soliciting you to participate in a virtual interview (e.g., via Google Hangouts), beware that this is not legitimate.
