Ellen E. Spong joined the MCV Foundation board in 2014.
Ellen is senior vice president and director of the Institutional Advisory Group at Middleburg Financial, a division of Atlantic Union Bank. For more than 28 years she has worked with nonprofit organizations, foundations and endowments to support their philanthropic and financial goals through policy development and management of investment assets, including charitable trusts and other philanthropic instruments. She previously worked for Wells Fargo as senior vice president of philanthropic services and for SunTrust Banks as managing director of the foundations and endowments specialty practice. She also served as director of planned giving for The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.
A past chair of the Audit and Appropriations Committee of the MCV Foundation board, Ellen also serves as a director and is the chair of the Investment Committee for The Richmond Forum and as a trustee of the Westminster Canterbury Foundation, is the past president of the Virginia Gift Planning Council Board of Directors and is past president of the Richmond Estate Planning Council.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in government and foreign affairs from the University of Virginia, is a member of the LEAD Virginia Class of 2013 and is a Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP®).
