Ellen E. Spong joined the MCV Foundation board in 2002 and served three terms. In 2014, she rejoined the board.
Ellen is a senior vice president and director of institutional advisory services with Atlantic Union Bank. For more than 30 years she has worked with nonprofit organizations, municipalities, foundations, and endowments to support their financial goals through policy development and management of investment assets. She previously worked for Blue Edge Capital, LLC as managing director, Wells Fargo as senior vice president of philanthropic services and for SunTrust Banks as managing director of the foundations and endowments specialty practice. Ellen also served as director of planned giving for The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.
She is the immediate past chair of the MCV Foundation board, past chair of the Audit and Appropriations Committee of the MCV Foundation board and chaired the foundation's Strategic Planning Task Force. In the community, Ellen also serves as chair of the board of directors for The Richmond Forum. She is a past president of the Virginia Gift Planning Council Board of Directors, and past president of the Richmond Estate Planning Council.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in government and foreign affairs from the University of Virginia, is a member of the LEAD Virginia Class of 2013 and earned the designation of Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy from the American College of Financial Services in 2017.
