Ellen E. Spong joined the MCV Foundation board in 2014.
Ellen is senior vice president and director of institutional services at Union Bank & Trust. For more than 27 years she has worked with nonprofit organizations, foundations and endowments to support their philanthropic goals through policy development and management of investment assets, as well as charitable trusts and other philanthropic instruments. She previously worked for Wells Fargo as senior vice president of philanthropic services and for SunTrust Banks as managing director of the foundations and endowments specialty practice. She also served as director of planned giving for The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.
A past chair of the Audit and Appropriations Committee of the MCV Foundation board, Ellen also serves a vice-chair of the Strategic Gifts Committee for Westminster Canterbury Foundation, is the past president of the Virginia Gift Planning Council Board of Directors and is past president of the Richmond Estate Planning Council.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in government and foreign affairs from the University of Virginia, is a member of the LEAD Virginia Class of 2013 and is a Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP®).
