VCU Board of Visitors Representative

Heidi Schlicher Cook joined the MCV Foundation Board in July 2026 as the VCU Board of Visitors representative. She is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications with a concentration in Strategic Public Relations in 2006. That same year, she completed VCU’s Virginia Capital Semester Program, an internship experience that sparked her passion for public service and launched her career at the Virginia General Assembly. She later expanded her global policy perspective by completing VCU’s International Business Certificate Program in 2009.

Heidi currently serves as senior vice president at Old Dominion Public Affairs, where she represents a diverse portfolio of Fortune-ranked companies, Virginia-based businesses and nonprofit organizations. She brings a proven track record in government relations, public policy development and legislative strategy.

With experience spanning contract lobbying, caucus operations, and legislative staff roles, Heidi brings a comprehensive understanding of Virginia’s policymaking process and is widely respected for her credibility, bipartisan approach and ability to translate complex policy challenges into practical, results-driven solutions.

Heidi currently serves as vice chair of the Richmond Technology Council (rvatech/) Board of Directors. She is a 2025 graduate of the Lead Virginia program and has previously served on the Virginia Amber Alert Advisory Board and the Virginia Childcare Advisory Council.
