MCV Foundation Recognized at 71st Annual Virginia Public Relations Awards

We were honored to receive three top awards at the 71st Annual Virginia Public Relations Awards on May 24.

Our mission is to steward and inspire philanthropic support of the incredible life-saving care, research and education that happen every day on the MCV Campus at VCU Health, and these awards show that our connections and engagement with you are strong, so thank you for your interest in changing lives in Richmond and beyond.

Each year, PRSA Richmond recognizes outstanding public relations professionals and their work at the Virginia Public Relations Awards.  This year’s award ceremony at The Jefferson Hotel was hosted by the Richmond PRSA chapter, but it represents statewide recognition.  The Public Relations Society of America is the nation’s largest professional organization serving the communications community.

We contributed three submissions and received the top honor, Award of Excellence Winner, in all three categories submitted

Blog screenshotOur first award was for our blog. We began populating our multimedia blog in 2017 with stories of lifesaving care, innovative research and world-class education happening right here in Richmond. We use compelling images, video and storytelling to illustrate to the Richmond community the value and importance of what happens on our campus.

Planned GivingThe next award was for a direct mail campaign that we created and distributed in fall of 2017 to provide alumni an opportunity to establish legacies on campus through planned giving and IRA Charitable Rollovers. The response was inspiring, and we were able to raise significant funding for nearly all the main academic units on campus.

Next magazine coverWe also won an award for NEXT magazine, which is a publication that highlights innovation across our campus. The response we’ve received from NEXT has also been remarkable as people continue to explore the research-focused articles it contains. We are thankful for all who have read its amazing articles, and to Big River, who helped us create the beautiful publication.

We want to congratulate our immensely talented colleagues from across VCU. Communications professionals from VCU Office of Development and Alumni Relations, VCU Division of University Relations, Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU, VCU School of Engineering, VCU Business Services, VCU Police and others received dozens of awards collectively. We are proud to call all of them our partners in creating a better tomorrow for VCU and VCU Health.
