Annual Brunch Connects Donors and Scholarship Recipients

Scholarship brunch guestsThe MCV Foundation hosted the 11th annual MCV Campus Endowed Scholarship Brunch in the Grand Ballroom at the Jefferson Hotel. More than 300 guests attended this event, which provides a wonderful opportunity for students across VCU’s five health sciences schools to meet the generous individuals who made their scholarships possible. Many of the donors are practicing healthcare providers and faculty, offering students an introduction to a mentoring relationship early in their careers.

More than 75 percent of students on the MCV Campus receive some type of financial aid. With the cost of tuition one of the most difficult issues facing today’s students, a scholarship can make the difference between having a dream and living it. The MCV Foundation was pleased to award more than $2 million in scholarships to 451 students during FY2015.

“We are incredibly grateful for the support of our faculty, alumni, board and partners,” said Margaret Ann Bollmeier, MCV Foundation president. “Their generosity allows the MCV Campus schools to recruit and retain the most talented students who will become the next generation of health science leaders.”

The MCV Foundation was established in 1949 to provide support for VCU’s five health science schools (Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Dentistry, and Allied Health, as well as their affiliated specialty centers), its National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center (Massey Cancer Center), and its large, urban medical center (VCU Health). The Foundation is responsible for the management and stewardship of almost $500 million designated by donors for the support of the health sciences and VCU Health.
