MCV Society Hosts Virtual Celebration

Planned giving has an incredible impact on the MCV Campus. In the last 20 years bequests and realized life income gifts have contributed more than $200 million dollars to the MCV Campus.  Currently MCV Foundation has documented estate expectancies representing more than $100 million dollars in future gifts. This fiscal year alone, more than $13 million dollars in planned gifts have been documented to support patient care, research and education. The power of planned giving to create a lasting legacy is realized in the endowed chairs and funds that support lifesaving research and help recruit top faculty to educate students, serve patients and advance innovative research.

“Donors who make a planned gift are critical to the success of the MCV Campus,” said Ann Deppman, director of gift planning for the MCV Foundation. “Often they give very generously to support causes deeply important to them and their impact cannot be overestimated.”

Deppman also said planned gifts are an attractive and versatile way to creatively tailor a gift to support a donor’s personal interests and connections to the MCV Campus.

One of the many ways the foundation tries to regularly thank and recognize planned gift donors is through the MCV Society, which includes alumni and friends who have provided for the future of the MCV Campus by establishing life income gifts or including the foundation in their estate plans.

Each year, the foundation hosts special events to honor the MCV Society members. While the pandemic has made that more challenging, the staff and board could not go another year without saying thank you!

On April 22, members were invited to join a virtual event featuring stories that share both the impact of planned giving and the inspiration for donors who have made a planned gift. Attendees also were treated to a special segment featuring Art Kellermann, M.D., M.P.H., senior vice president for health sciences at VCU and CEO of the VCU Health System, in conversation with with Peter Buckley, M.D., dean of the VCU School of Medicine.

If you are interested in making a planned gift and would like to partner with the foundation in our commitment to the future of the MCV Campus and to health care at large, please contact Ann Deppman, the foundation’s director of gift planning.
